Gift #2: Precious- Each of the girls received a Christmas Ornament with a letter telling them why we picked out that particular ornament for them.

Dear Sarah,

This Christmas, we wish to tell you how special you are to us.  We love being your parents.  We could not ask for a better “oldest child.”  We admire your example so much.  Your sisters and your parents watch the things you do and admire who you are.  We have loved hearing your angelic voice singing here at home.  This ornament is meant to represent you, and your heavenly singing.  When you sing, you bring a wonderful spirit into our house.  We hope this coming year to see even more of the wonderful that is you.

Dear Emily,

To our future cowgirl, you are the calm of our family.  We love your spirit.  You can be so much fun, yet you bring a sense of quiet, too.  When we hear you speak of living in the country, we picture your free spirit right at home in the open spaces.  This ornament, to us, represents that part of you.  We picture you happy in jeans and boots.  We hope that this year you find even more ways to let your fun spirit shine through.  You are truly wonderful.

Dear Ariana,

Imagination could be your true middle name.  We love your adventuresome spirit.  Whether it’s soccer, snowboarding, or fishing, you throw yourself into it and keep trying.  Your determination is an inspiration to us all.  We picked this ornament to remind us of our little outdoorsy girl.  We hope you catch all the big fish that you can dream of throughout your life.

Dear Julia,

To our new little ski bunny, we are enjoying so much watching you learn a fun new sport. You are so smart and talented.  It seems that there is nothing you can’t do when you set your mind to it. We love your kind heart and your caring spirit. We picked this ornament for two reasons: 1) To remind you of the year when you began to be a super skier, and 2) Santa is known for his kindness and giving. This trait is also something we find in you.

Dear Maya

You are such a joy.  Three years ago we awaited your arrival.  Who knew how much happiness you would bring to our family?  From your favorite color pink, to your favorite food, oatmeal, you make seemingly boring things fun and exciting.  You picked this ornament yourself.  You wouldn’t let go of it in the store.  How fitting, though. The joyous sound of Christmas bells are like your sweet voice.  Thank you for being ours.

Gift #3 we decided to give the girls a gift they could share with each other: (except Maya who got her own individual gift- yes we know we spoil her). We got the girls: rock band, dart board, ping pong table and  a four wheeler. Although Doug was just as excited about the four wheeler as any child could possibly be.
