SHHH It's a Surprise!

My parents were pretty surprised. We were able to track down a lot of their friends and families in a short period.  (The party was planned in less than a week.)  My niece Britney sang some songs for the Newly weds with my dad.  They were both amazing!

Douglas and I were in charge of the gifts so this is what we came up with:

Depends: You’ve depended on each other for everything for 40 years, but a leaky bladder is something you should take care of for yourself.

Canes:  You’re theme song has always been “Lean on Me.”  With your balance increasingly in question, we’d like give you a little help to lean on.  Besides, if you get into a really big fight, we don’t want one of you unarmed.

Glasses:  Time takes its toll on so many things far sightedness, saggy butts and boobs, but these will help you magnify all the good things you see in one another.

Pill boxes:  These are for your vitamins, blood pressure meds, Immune guard, and any other pills you might be taking forever.  Bev, be careful, Tuesday and Saturday have that extra Cialis pill, so get that Ambien going early!

Fiber:  Like you’ve always told us, to keep a marriage strong for 40 years, you shouldn’t let crap build up between the two of you.  Use this and you won’t have too much “steam” to blow off.

Bedpan:  That bathroom can be so far away sometimes.  Just don’t step in any surprises by the bed in the morning.

Urinal:  John, you’ve always hated to stop on driving trips, but that bladder and prostate ain’t what they used to be.  Here’s to relief.  You can GO on the GO.

Things to remember:  My mom calling me up and telling me about her weekend of babysitting.  She then proceeded to tell me she was going with some friends Monday and Tuesday (yes, the night of her surprise party and the day the grandkids planned on spending time with her).  Of course I had to keep my mom home Monday night and Tuesday so I ended up putting Christi on the spot.  My mom took the bait. Boy did she take the bait.  She even went as far as creating a surgery day for Christi… Oh the things we can come up with!  Thanks Christi for taking the heat all weekend with numerous questions thrown out at you.  Then there was the traditional morning call making it short and sweet due to everything going on at my house to get my basement ready. Whew!!!  We were able to pull off everything.
