We met for breakfast early before heading out. Originally we were going to go to the train station to head to Pisa but apparently the trains were on strike. So a quick change of plans and we hired a taxi driver to take us around. We first went to Florence. Florence is one of the best known and best loved cities of the world. Its artistic treasures and architectural masterpieces are only a few of the things Florence is known for. Our taxi driver took us up to the top of this hill for some stunning views of Florence. We also did a little shopping here. We found the kids some Pinocchio items and I was able to get one of my snow globes. After a short stop we got back into the taxi and headed back down into the heart of the city. Since the historical part of the city is largely contained in quite a small area, our taxi driver took us to Duomo (cathedral) in the city centre for us to start our walking tour. After a while my parents, brothers and their wives wanted to do some shopping. Doug and I went off together to see as much of Florence as we could within the time we had. Of course we had to stop for some food, which was wonderful. We all met back up at the Cathedral so we could go to Pisa. The leaning tower of Pisa was pretty amazing. It is one thing to read about it and another to be standing right in front of it. We also headed into the church as well as the area they keep all of the tombs in. After a short trip around the square we shopped a little bit before we headed to the piazza where we found the best Ice-cream shop ever. It was called La Bottega del Gelato. It was so good. Doug and Donovan even had to go back for seconds before we headed back to our ship.

Okay, I didn't want to leave a comment on EVERY posting...but those two pictures showing the ocean and the ships look like they could be paintings! Wow!
